Behavioral Medicine and Behavioral Health

The focus of BM is on the interaction between behavior and cognition as it relates to mental and physical health. Health psychology is discipline-specific, but behavioral medicine is multidisciplinary. A subfield of psychology called "behavioral medicine" is largely concerned with using psychological and behavior-change concepts to enhance physical well-being, lessen the signs of sickness, and prevent illness. It is a form of response-based therapy that aids people in developing new, constructive habits that either lessen the impact of or completely cure mental illnesses like addiction, anxiety, phobias, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. The concept of behavioral health describes how a person's activities impact both their physical and mental health. Professionals with a license who specialize in determining if certain activities have a positive or negative effect on your health might be called behavioral health providers (BHPs). Numerous conditions are treated with cognitive behavioral therapy.
